For KG1 we chose an American curriculum called Frog Street, Which helps the teacher make learning an enjoyable experience.
It has 9 themes and covers a variety of topics that are both important and interesting to the young minds. Through these topis, childeren explore the domains of math, language and literacy, science, social, physics and creative development. The curriculum provides all the tools required, be it Big Books/Stories/vocaulary cards/CDs and Manipulatives, etc…
In KG1 we realize that children are at the age of exploration, and we make it a point to offer them continuous oppotunities.

RATIONALE
Al-Awael admissions process is designed to ensure students are placed in the appropriate grade level to meet their learning needs. This enables students to reach their full potential, preparing them to be responsible global citizens and leaders, as is reflected in our mission statement.
ADMISSIONS POLICY
The school seeks to admit applicants and parents who support the Al-Awael mission statement and principles of American Diploma.
ADMISSIONS PROCESS
Admission decisions are based on a careful assessment of each applicant’s age appropriate knowledge, skills and understandings as well as their social and emotional development. Successful applicants must demonstrate that they are capable of meeting the school’s academic standards as responsible individuals.

2. A well-organized admission experience and an appropriate assessment for all applicants will support the high standards expected in the classroom.
GRADE 1-6
Acceptance is based upon the results of a written and verbal test specifically designed for the grade level. The test includes vocabulary, writing, reading, comprehension, mathematics, and speaking skills and will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Social skills and the ability to follow instructions are also part of this assessment.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
New Students Required Documentation
• Children must be physically present in Riyadh at the time the registration process begins. Documents must be presented in person to the Registration office. Applications will not be accepted
through the mail or from a second party.
• A child applying in the middle of the year will also be requested to submit documentation from the current school year in addition to the previous two school years.
• The application form must be completed in full and signed by the sponsor (father or mother). Upon receiving the completed application form and required documentation Al-Awael will begin the
administrative process for the student. Completed applications will be forwarded to the principal who will arrange for testing and assignment to grade level and teacher. Students usually begin classes within one week of testing, if fees have been paid.
RETURNING STUDENT FORM
At the end of the school year a “Returning Student Form” will be sent home with every student. All Students must return the form whether or not they are returning to Al-Awael.
This form serves as a renewal agreement and is also used for planning purposes.
REGISTRATION OFFICE HOURS
The Registration Office is normally open all year long from 8:00 – 13:30. Sunday through Thursday. Should there be further questions regarding registration, please contact the Registration Office by dialing the school and choosing the extension.

House competition
Dubai College operates a rich full House programme.
The House competition is one of the enduring traditions of Dubai College. Every student that has passed through the school will have been a member of one of our four houses, which are all named after famous pioneers and explorers:
Sir Francis Chichester: Famous Sailor and Aviator, the first person to sail around the world single handed.
Thor Heyerdahl: He sailed 8,000 miles across the Pacific on a boat made out of reeds – proving that ancient civilisations could have travelled much further than previously thought.
Jacques Cousteau: War hero, undersea explorer and researcher – he invented the Aqualung, and became a pioneer of marine conservation.
Barbarossa: A pirate known as “Redbeard” who dominated the Mediterranean and eventually became the head of the Ottoman Navy in the 1500’s.
Being a member of one’s House, is one of the things that gives the school its sense of community spirit. In many ways it helps to embody so many of the best elements of Dubai College life.
Sports day
Our inter-house Sports Day takes place every year during the cooler weather of our Spring term.
Extra Carricullar activities
Dubai College offers an extensive range of extra-curricular activities, and we currently offer over 200 distinct lunchtime and after school activities each week. Although participation in these activities is not compulsory, it is highly recommended and well over 95% of our students do choose to take on at least one extra-curricular activity each week. These activities are fundamental to our aim of offering a broad, balanced and enriching educational experience. In some cases, what takes place outside of scheduled lesson times plays an essential role in helping students to develop what they have learned in class.
Through engaging with the extra-curricular opportunities, students are likely to develop their skills specific to that activity as well as a range of universal skills which are increasingly relevant:

Achievements of Intermediate and Secondary Departments
The intermediate and secondary department helped in career development and teacher's efficiency by holding intensive courses with distinguished trainers at the Kingdom level.
The department supported technology programs and e-applications in partnership with Aanaab platform for training and development. Female teachers attended various general and academic courses for achieving greatest achievements and production.
Female students' skills were developed on how to deal with community patterns by raising thought awareness as well as security awareness and self-esteem. Many courses were held in partnership with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
The secondary department focuses on hosting a range of public and private universities through (Universities Forum) platform, which is held annually in our schools to highlight the most important academic disciplines and to know about the criteria of admission and registration.
Achievements of Al Awael Private Schools Undeniably Pride of Achievements
Training courses and weekly classes were held to practice GAT and academic achievement tests (for free) for female students under the supervision of a specialized trainer. This indicates the schools' keenness on students of all tracks to achieve the highest grades in aptitude tests / qiyas.
Female students were trained on (IELTS) tests and qualified them to do tests with feeling confidence and motivated. Thus, many of them achieved the highest grades.
The schools focus on instilling the sport culture and encouraging the spirit of competition among female students to be a part of national pride. Also, supporting them to participate in the Futsal Championship. Thus, they won the first place in the Championship Cup.
Encouraging female students by instilling various religious values and high virtues. Also, enhancing participation in Quran and Sunnah Memorization Competition and the schools won the second place.
The department participated in international The schools' keenness on strengthening the sense of national loyalty among students and elevating the nation's image, and also belonging to the homeland. Moreover, scouts had the great impact on placing the schools in high esteem. They participated in ministerial programs and honoring ceremonies at the Kingdom level.
